Atlanta, GA – May 15, 2009 – Cooper-Atlanta Transportation Services, Inc. (CATS) joined the fun at the 28th Annual Derby Day fundraiser as a presenting sponsor. Providing more than $30,000 of‐kind services and monetary donations, CATS, along with company founder, Dennis Cooper, kept this highly-anticipated event rolling as the transportation partner.
Held each year on the first week in May, to coincide with the running of the Kentucky Derby, Derby Day is the largest fundraiser hosted by the Shepherd Center's Junior Committee. Thousands of attendees depart from Atlanta bound for Foxhall Farm, a 1,200‐acre horse farm bordering the Chattahoochee River in Douglas Country, just outside the Atlanta metropolitan area. Guests don seersucker, sundresses and fancy hats to spend a day with friends, enjoying cocktails, BBQ and watching the Kentucky Derby on big‐screen TVs.
As the Transportation partner and sponsor, CATS provided 12 coaches and several minibuses to act as shuttles for event volunteers and attendees. Thousands of people were transported between Friday, May 1st and Sunday, May 3rd in Cooper-Atlanta comfort - allowing guests the option of leaving cars at home and enjoying a safe ride after a day of cocktails. CATS also hosted a tent at Foxhall Farm offering Frisbee Golf and reduced rate sedan charters for an even safer‐ride all the way to the guest’s front door!
